Is anyone familiar with the specifics of how Circle to Search (linked) works? I was looking for a FOSS alternative to the google circle to search tool and came across it. It seems to describe its implementation in a clear way on the GitHub page, but I have not validated that it does actually operate using that architecture, or that it keeps to its promises about not caching info that is pulled from its third party OCR tools.
Since the recent update of Android 16, Pixels have a new theme
- symbols are less geometric and hard
- some elements are rounded squares, others are round
- the theme is generally very dark
- the top panel is not visible by default
- the battery looks very different, kinda like on iOS
- the drawers have a blurry background instead of solid colors
- the “recent apps” overview displays the app name in the top left corner of the preview window, instead of a round icon on top
- icons and buttons in apps like GCam are also changed
The most common complaints center around fuzzy text, a faint grain or sand-like texture across the UI, and a general softness that becomes obvious when reading rather than watching video. Interestingly, a lot of users noted the effect is present even with Privacy Display turned off
A new European initiative dubbed UnifiedAttestation aims to build a free and open-source alternative to Google’s Play Integrity checks. The initiative is backed by smartphone maker Volla, while other partners include /e/OS maker Murena and the team behind iodé OS. The feature will be distributed under an Apache 2.0 license.
