We have been seeing a big influx of memes and non Pic posts. This is a reminder that this community is meant for Pics which is just that - pictures taken with a camera. Any non Pic posts will be taken down and frequent infracture of that rule will lead to a temp ban.
I’m only half kidding. I’m a bit of a prepper and I have lots of powerbanks and devices that charge from USB but besides idling my truck I really had no other way to charge any of them in case of a long-term power outage which seemed a bit of an oversight on my part.
Joan Sebastian Guerrero was murdered by fascists, leaves behind a wife, 3-year-old child, and sister. (Hill St & Pool St, Biddeford, ME, 7/13/26, 6:00 AM)
The weather here has been nothing but crazy heat and torrential storms. It’s been kicking my ass (hooray chronic illness -_-) and I haven’t been going out much at all because of it. Haven’t seen Sandy in two weeks and I decided to brave the heat to go visit and give her a good grooming.
When Norway beat Brazil in the World Cup in 98, I was hitchhiking far out on the French countryside and didn’t even know the result until the day after.
Usually I post my pictures in a smaller PNG format and that can reach 150MB for a full-size 24mp picture, but here’s one in JPEG, so you can have amazing wallpaper and I can upload it without lemmy.world hitting me in the jaw.
Taken in northwest GA. Look at this adorable thing. It looks just like lichen! If this is the right species, that means it comes in 4 other flavors too, and I got the best one! Hundreds of thousands of generations of caterpillars lived and died over the many many years, just to make this extra poisonous cutie.
Yesterday, we had a wee bit of thunderstorm, after a couple of days of extreme heat. The refreshment in the form of the rain it brought was welcome, but so were the pretty flashes.
The monochrome color choices, plus the light vignetting over the reasonably normal cityscape and the impossibly large and long bridge to (seemingly) nowhere imparts some of that Old Stockholm Telephone Exchange energy, a sort of “look at the improbable shit people built in the past, that had to have been photoshopped in, they really live with a bridge that big, just right there?”
africa is building a whole lot of solar panels to secure its energy supply. it’s cheaper than fossil fuels, decentralized, doesn’t require much of a grid. and works even when the officials are corrupted.
It’s been a while since my last one, and this one isn’t as impressive, buuuut: I’ve been getting into astronomy a lot more, so enjoy this photo of the Pleiades taking from my very own balcony :p
Fully expect this to just be me, but the way the tall, angular Beorma Tower looms over the curved rear of the Selfridges building is architecturally erotic.
